Dublin International Model United Nations Conference
On Friday 13th February, a group of Royal Russell pupils departed early morning to attend the 38th St Andrew’s College International Model United Nations in Dublin. Joseph Soya-Bongay, Tulsi Patel, Rayhaan Kufuor-Gray and Kalan Sharma represented Mali with enthusiasm, making many speeches and Points of Information and taking an active part in their committees, debating a variety of topics such as The question of Mitigating the Security Risks of Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Military Systems, The question of the Environmental Impact of Nuclear Power, The question of the Protection and Promotion of Minority Languages Globally or The question of Interference and Disinformation in State Elections. As the Ambassador of Mali, Joseph delivered an excellent speech in the Opening Ceremony. Tulsi, Kalan and Rayhaan made equally pertinent policy statements in their respective committees. Rohan Phillpot, Emilie Marshall-Tate and Jamie McDowall chaired the debates in the Disarmament and Security Committee, Ecology and Environment Committee and Special Political Committee respectively with an impressive professionalism and excellent knowledge of procedures. Well done to all participants for once again representing Royal Russell so successfully and further affirming our MUN prestige internationally.
